e
APPENDIX C7
506 E. Main
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS • >0X&X91RCA6%6C ASPEN, COLORADO 81611 PHONE: (303) 925-5232
P
I
T
March 3, 1976
I
N
Victor Weyers , District Ranger
C U.S. Forest Service
Box 248
0 Carbondale , Colorado 81623
TJ Dear Mr. Weyers :'
N
T The Pitkin County Commissioners initiated an update to the compre-
hensive plan for the County. To date plans have been prepared
Y and adopted for a significant percentage of the County, primarily
rural and urbanized areas that relate to Aspen.
While planning for the Crystal River Valley and the Redstone Com-
munity will be completed by the end of 1976, we have developed
various goals and objectives that will guide the planning efforts.
The goals for Pitkin County can be stated as follows :
- Enrich the quality of life for Pitkin County
residents ,
- Strenothen the resort experience , and
- Preserve the environment and conserve natural
resources.
A number of County policies will affect the planning of the Crystal
River Valley and support the accomplishment of these goals. They
are:
- Avoid undue concentration of densities which
would create air, noise or water pollution.
Prevent developments in areas such as avalanche,
rockfall , flooding , landslide, wildfire and
other potential natural dangers to the safety
and welfare of residents and visitors to Pitkin
County.
- Avoid developments or undue concentration of
densities which would threaten areas of wildlife
habitat or witner range.
36
