100 acre site.
The present road from Colorado Hwy. 133 to the
preparation plant area will serve as the main entrance road .
An alternate site for the base facilities is the
160 acre tract in the middle of Sec . 4 . Extension of the
main access road for a distance of two miles past the prepara-
tion plant area , along the railroad grade of the original
(1900-1908 mining operations) would provide access to the
area, and might justify an additional lift or two to serve
the "Hump" area. The site is also being considered for the
cross-country ski center .
The adit yard and spoil area will be a secondary
base area for intermediate and advanced skiers , with lift
and parking facilities . The parking area , it is anticipated ,
will be large enough to allow for spillover parking when the
main base (preparation plant) parking lot is full .
The road from the preparation plant area to the
adit yard area will provide access .
No . 4 Mine Portal will be utilized as a lift
terminal for one (and possibly two) lifts , and a restaurant
facility . The restaurant will lessen skier congestion at
the lower base area during the mid-day . The No . 4 mine road
will be retained to allow for construction and service to
the facilities .
Water , sanitary facilities , telephone and power
lines are already in use at the preparation plant area , the
-23-
