No . 4 mine portal and the No . 5 mine portal areas , and will <br /> be available at the adit yard area upon its completion. <br /> The recreational facilities would use the existing utilities <br /> without further disturbance to the environment . <br /> As previously mentioned , the current main access <br /> road from Hwy . 133 at Redstone to the preparation plant area <br /> would remain in use as an access road for the recreational <br /> area. The Hauk report notes that the road is essentially <br /> avalanche free. Traffic in the winter months could thus be <br /> expected to flow without snow-related disruptions . <br /> The road to the adit yard is sufficiently wide <br /> (50' to 60' ) to allow adequate room for skier traffic . The <br /> roads to No . 4 and No . 5 mines would also be suitable for <br /> access to the portal area ski facilities . <br /> The road from No . 4 mine to the top of Huntsman <br /> Ridge would remain for access to the upper lifts and the Lee <br /> Creek Basin Area (area C) . <br /> Part of the road to the No . 3 mine road from the <br /> tunnel to the "Hump" area (as described in the Hauk report) <br /> would be used for construction of the lift on the northeast <br /> side and access to the "Hump" lifts . <br /> A great advantage to Mid-Continent is that 64 <br /> years of operating in the Coal Basin will provide the company <br /> with substantial data for analysis of the terrain , snow <br /> conditions , soil conditions , vegetation, hydrology and <br /> -24- <br />
