• reclamation measures and material handling including permissible slopes,
hazardous materials — none, backfilling — none, releases of pollutants to
groundwater - none (3.1.5);
(d) Topsoil Segregation, Preservation, and Replacement: Because the mining operation is
intended only to remove excess topsoil and a sufficient layer of topsoil (2' to 3') shall be left in
all areas affected, there will be no need to segregate, preserve, or replace topsoil needed for
revegetation (replanting). For re- seeding species and planting schedule see below.
(e) Reclamation Schedule:
(i) Timing of Reclamation Stages: Re- grading of slopes to shallower than 3:1/H:V will
occur periodically as each mining unit is operated. Revegetation will be accomplished in
either the Spring or Fall following after cessation of operations within a unit after
resource exhaustion, according to dry -land or crop -land species requirements. In no case
will more than two mining units be either under operation or reclamation activities at any
given time.
(ii) Size and Location Reclamation Areas: Mining units are all less than 10 acres in size.
The location of slopes and revegetation are shown on the Reclamation Map (Section
6.4.6 Exhibit F).
(iii) Reclamation Sequence: See previous discussion and Reclamation Map..)
(f) A description of each of the following:
(i) Final Grading: Slopes shall be no steeper than 3:1/H:V.
(ii) Seeding: Dry -land (early Fall planting) - Certified Weed -Free Russian Wild Rye
(12 -15 lbs. per acre) and Certified Weed -Free Western Wheat Grass or Intermediate
Wheat Grass (5 -10 pounds per acre). It should be noted that the owner's four - generation
farming experience in this region indicates that ever - present Kochia weed will inevitably
inhabit un- irrigated disturbed land. Crop (Post -frost Spring planting) - Certified Weed -
Free Meadow Brome (15 -18 pounds per acre), Certified Weed -Free Alfalfa (10 -12
pounds per acre) and Certified Weed -Free Oats (20 -50 pounds per acre).
(iii) Fertilization: None.
(iv) Revegetation Trees and Shrubs: None.
(v) Topsoiling: None required as sufficient topsoil will remain in place in all areas.
6.4.6 EXHIBIT F - Reclamation Plan Map
See attached large format Reclamation Plan drawing.
8
