6.4.7 EXHIBIT G - Water Information
There are no natural water features on the site (See Aerial Image and Survey Plat).
The owner of the property also owns a proportional share of water rights in the Helena Ditch
(Arkansas River) which has been used on the property for irrigation. A lateral enters the tract
along the northern boundary on the east half of the property where it historically irrigated the
property through flood irrigation from time to time (See Survey Plat). Presently, the center pivot
on the property is supplied by a pipeline that is filled from this lateral. The main Helena Ditch
(B &L Cogan and other owners) traverses from north to south along the western edge of the
property and then exits the southwestern corner of the property onto CDOC land. In the future,
B &L Cogan intends to relocate the pipeline and intake that serves the center pivot sprinkler to
the northwest corner of the property where the Helena ditch enters the property. Water from this
water right will be used to re- establish vegetation during reclamation.
Groundwater is present beneath the property at 50' below land surface according to the Well
Construction and Test report for the livestock well (Permit #282096) in the southeast corner of
the property. (See report following.) This well and the NWNA monitoring wells will be avoided
during the topsoil removal project.
Due to the shallow and enclosed nature of the proposed excavation, the topsoil mining activities
will not have a negative impact on drainage, surface water quantity or quality, or groundwater
quantity or quality. No water is needed for the proposed topsoil extraction or screening, and no
water will be used for these activities.
9
