Site Reclamation Activity
4/94 - 3/95
Page 4
4) monitoring and maintenance of revegetated areas.
5) continuation of the historic Lead Carbonate Tailings cleanup.
This will entail removal of additional waste dump to gain
access to the underlying tailings.
6) switching the source of makeup water for the water treatment
plant from the underground source (behind the proposed
bulkhead) back to the old surface source. The water rights
and pipelines are existing (except for minor pipe extensions) .
TERRY TUNNEL AREA - Plate No. 2
During the 1994 reporting year, no additional acreage was disturbed
and no acreage was reclaimed.
Activity at this site consisted of;
1) operation of the water treatment plant from the first week of
June to mid-October . The water treatment ponds were cleaned
3 times during this period with the mudcat dredge and tank
trucks. The removed material was hauled to the Mayflower Mill
- Tailings Pond #4.
2) usage of the site for removal of equipment from the mine. All
equipment was removed from the site prior to winter road
closure.
3) grading of the apron area to drain towards the settling ponds.
4) repair and maintenance work on the settling pond bypass
system.
Activities planned for 1995 are;
1) operation of the water treatment plant as required by the CDPS
permit for the portal discharge.
2) installation of a tunnel ventilation system for bulkhead
inspection access if progress is made towards bulkhead valve
closure negotiations.
3) revegetation of the apron sideslopes, if time permits.
Further site reclamation work is dependent on usage of and/or
success of the installed tunnel bulkhead to eliminate portal
discharge.
