Site Reclamation Activity
4/95 - 3/96
Page 8
3) usage of the borrow area as required for capping material . As
used and brought to the final contour, this area will be
seeded with the Mountain Mix and the final upland diversion
will be established.
TAILINGS POND 13 AREA - Plate No. 3
Activity at this site consisted of;
1) additional fertilization, amendment with limestone, seeding
and mulching of the sideslopes. This area is finally starting
to become vegetated. Fertilization was with liquid fertilizer
( 32-0-0) at 50 gallons per acre, seeding with the Mountain Mix
at 22 lbs pls/acre adding limestone amendment at 3 tons per
acre and hay mulch at 1 ton/acre. The steeper sideslopes were
also covered with netting to keep the mulch in place.
2) planting of trees and shrubs across the site.
Planned activity for 1996 includes;
1) monitoring and maintenance of the vegetation.
TAILINGS POND #1 and TAILINGS POND 12 - Plate No. 3
Activity at this site during the 1995 reporting year consisted of;
1) selective fertilization and replanting areas where vegetation
is sparse. These areas were fertilized with liquid fertilizer
(32-0-0) at a rate of 50 gallons per acre, reseeded with the
Mountain Mix (22 lbs pls per acre) and mulched with hay at 1
ton per acre. The probable cause of low vegetation coverage
is the rock content in these areas as there is vegetation
being supported by the relatively little (as compared to areas
of higher vegetation cover) amount of growth media present.
2) planting of shrubs.
