Site Reclamation Activity
_ 4/95 - 3/96
Page 6
5) visual inspection for subsidence and survey control points.
Actual subsidence monitoring was not done due to the late
clearing of snow and finding that the survey control points
had been damaged. To resume monitoring will require
reestablishing the control points from SGC's triangulation
network. It was SGC's opinion that additional monitoring was
not useful but this has not been approved. Therefore, SGC
will reestablish the control and continue monitoring unless
DMG approval to discontinue monitoring prior to this work
being done when the snow clears on triangulation points.
Planned activity for 1996 includes;
1) refilling from the stockpile any subsidence of the Lake Emma
backfill.
2) monitoring and maintenance of the planted areas.
3) reestablishing survey control in the basin to monitor
subsidence points above the open pit highwalls if DMG believes
it is necessary.
4) construction of safety barriers around or over a historic
stope on the north side of the permit area. This work was
tentatively planned for 1995 but the work schedule did not
allow it.
5) potential use of the site for alkaline injection as submitted
in TR-19. Although this is not planned for 1996 it may happen
because of unforeseen difficulties in operation of the Terry
Tunnel alkaline injection.
TAILINGS POND 14 - Plate No. 3
During the 1995 reporting year no additional acreage was disturbed
and an additional 7.90 acres were placed in the reclamation in
progress category.
Reclamation activity at this site consisted of;
1) usage of this site to contain material removed from the
American Tunnel settling ponds, Terry Tunnel settling ponds,
historic Lead Carbonate tailings and the American Tunnel waste
dump.
