Site Reclamation Activity
_ 4/95 - 3/96
Page 5
2) installation of a ventilation system to allow for safe entry
into the tunnel to inspect bulkhead and monitor the alkaline
injection system.
3) installation and operation of a water and alkaline injection
system to speed physical equilibrium of the mine pool after
valve closure and allow chemical equilibrium to be reached
from the alkaline side of the pH scale. This installation is
included in TR-19.
4) monitoring and maintenance of planted sideslopes.
SUNNYSIDE BASIN (LAKE EMMA) AREA - Plate No. 2
During the 1995 reporting year, no additional acreage was
disturbed.
Activity at this site consisted of;
1) refilling the area of subsidence over the Lake Emma hole back
to grade. The fill material was obtained from the stockpile
left for this purpose.
2) additional contour repair work on the west side of the Lake
Emma subsidence. Included in this work was a temporary
drainage path for spring runoff water to flow around the
subsidence and the snow-slide path that initially diverts
water into the subsidence in the spring. After subsidence
stops this path will be changed back to the natural contour
line.
3) repair work on erosional areas. The amount of repair work
needed during the 1995 reporting season was minimal due to
previous years work.
4) expansion of planting all areas not previously planted along
with additional seeding of other areas previously planted.
The areas planted were amended with limestone at 1 ton/acre,
seeded with the Lake Emma mix (attached in Appendix) at a rate
of 15 lbs pls per acre and mulched with hay at 1 ton per acre.
In addition, the vegetated areas were fertilized with liquid
fertilizer (32-0-0) at a rate of 50 gallons per acre. Overall
growth at the site from previous seeding work was very
encouraging.
