Site Reclamation Activity
April 1999 - March 2000
Page 7
2) use of the area as a staging area for projects and storage.
BULKHEADS - TR-14 / TR-16
Activity on this project during the 1999 reporting year consisted
of;
1) the continuation of the seep, spring and flowing adit
inventory required by TR-14. Twenty percent of the sites were
required to be sampled and all sites monitored for field
parameters twice. SGC monitored each site twice (if flow
existed) and sampled more than twenty percent of the sites
during the field season. Summary sheets of the data collected
and discussions of the data are included in Appendix B.
2) maintenance of the voluntary Consent Decree projects in
order to fulfill the terms of the agreement and move towards
final MLR Permit site reclamation (if the terms of the Consent
Decree are successfully met) . The A List projects were
completed and inspected by October 1997 .
Sunnyside submitted three additional projects for inclusion
under the Consent Decree B list projects in 1998 . These
projects included work within the permit area (approved in
TR-21) as well as diversion work outside the permit area.
These projects were started during the 1998 report year and
completed during the 1999 report year.
3) monitoring of the bulkhead in the American Tunnel for pressure
and mine pool for pH, temperature and conductivity, and
inspection of the tunnels and bulkheads. The mine pool appears
to be at physical equilibrium. If this is the case, the 2-year
monitoring period required by TR-14 will start. The mine pool
monitoring data is included in Appendix A.
Planned activity for 2000 includes;
1) monitoring of the American Tunnel and Terry Tunnel bulkheads
and mine pool according to permit requirements.
2) monitoring and maintenance for the completed Consent Decree -
Mine Remediation Projects.
3) continuation of the seep, spring and flowing adit inventory
and monitoring.
