Site Reclamation Activity
April 1999 - March 2000
Page 6
TAILINGS POND #1 AND TAILINGS POND #2 - Plate No. 3
The Permit Technical Revision (TR-21) contained a project to
improve upland runoff diversion for Tailings Pond #1. This project
was also a Consent Decree project. Portions of the construction
extended outside the MLR Permit boundary but within the site
Stormwater Permit boundary. Within the MLR Permit boundary, it
included the construction of a lined diversion ditch to prevent
infiltration of diverted water.
Activity at this site consisted of;
1) monitoring and maintenance of the vegetation.
2) maintenance of stormwater sediment controls.
3) construction of a lined upland diversion ditch according to
the plans approved in TR-21.
Planned activity for 2000 includes;
1) monitoring and maintenance of the vegetation.
2) monitoring of the improvements to the stormwater diversions.
ENGINEERING OFFICE SETTLING PONDS - Plate No. 3
This site was deeded to the San Juan County Historical Society
during 1996. Use of the quonset building, metal building and
topsoil stockpile area was retained by lease arrangement.
The SJCHS is developing plans to create a small industrial park in
this area in the future and is currently leasing the warehouse
building and some of the surrounding area to small business
concerns. Sunnyside may need to request a partial release of this
area from the MLR permit because the plans are not consistent with
the reclamation plan site usage and Sunnyside will not have any
control on whether the use conversion is implemented.
Activity at this site consisted of;
1) use of the quonset building, metal building and vicinity as a
staging area for projects and storage.
Activity planned for 2000 includes;
1) monitoring and maintenance of vegetation.
