Site Reclamation Activity <br /> April 1999 - March 2000 <br /> Page 8 <br /> MAYFLOWER MILL AREA - Plate No. 3 <br /> Ownership of this site was transferred to the San Juan County <br /> Historical Society for conversion into a historical and <br /> interpretive tour. This conversion was approved in AM-004 and took <br /> place in May of 1996. The Historical Society has operated the tour <br /> since 1996. In SR-02 the main mill building area was removed from <br /> the permit area and Sunnyside was released from further reclamation <br /> responsibility for the building area. <br /> During 1998, a work plan was submitted to CDPHE for inclusion of <br /> three water diversion projects as B List projects under the Consent <br /> Decree. One of these projects included the construction of an <br /> improved upland stormwater diversion system in the Mayflower Mill <br /> area. The portion of this project within the MLR permit area was <br /> also included in Sunnyside's TR-21 submittal. Both submittals were <br /> approved during the 1998 report year. The Diversion was constructed <br /> during the 1998 report year. <br /> Activity at this site for the 1999 reporting year consisted of; <br /> 1) maintenance of the interception structure and diversion ditch <br /> constructed in 1998 under Consent Decree and TR-21 approvals. <br /> This structure appears to intercept and divert water <br /> throughout the year. <br /> Planned activity for 2000 consists of; <br /> 1) monitoring and maintenance of the planted areas. <br /> MONITORING - Water Quality <br /> Included in Appendix A is water quality data for; <br /> 1) Mayflower Millsite area <br /> a) Animas River above (AR3 . 5) and below (AR4) complex. <br /> b) Boulder Creek above (BC1) and below (BC2) tailings ponds. <br /> c) monitoring wells on the banks of the Animas River down <br /> gradient from Tailings Pond #3 (EOMW1 and EOMW2) . <br /> d) diversion ditch flow between Tailings Pond #3 and <br /> Tailings Pond #4 , up gradient of TP #3 , (SCTP3-1) and <br /> before entry to the Animas River (SCTP3-2) . <br />
