Site Reclamation Activity
Page 4
Activities planned for 1994 are:
1) annual site cleanup.
2) upgrading site drainage for stormwater flows.
3) maintenance of treatment system for CDPS permit compliance.
4) monitoring and maintenance of revegetated areas .
5) extend the area under reclamation. This will probably include
the waste dump area.
TERRY TUNNEL AREA - Plate No. 2
During the 1993 reporting year , no additional acreage was disturbed
and no acreage was reclaimed. Activity at the site consisted of
operation of the water treatment plant from late June, 1993 to late
October , 1993. The water treatment settling ponds were cleaned
three times during the year with the sludge being hauled to the
Mayflower Mill - Tailings Pond #4 in tanker trucks.
Activities planned for 1994 are:
1) annual site cleanup.
2) operation of the water treatment plant as required by the CDPS
permit for the portal discharge.
3) use of the site as a loading facility for equipment and
materials to be removed from the mine prior to placement of
the Terry Tunnel and American Tunnel bulkheads .
SUNNYSIDE BASIN (LAKE EMMA) AREA - Plate No. 2
During the 1993 reporting year , no additional acreage was
disturbed . Reclamation work at the site consisted of:
1) placement of a permanent concrete seal in the Washington #1
level portal . This consisted of shotcreting a 2 foot
(minimum) thick closure onto the existing gate structure. The
area was then covered , graded and contoured to blend into the
surrounding hillside.
2) refilling the area of subsidence over the Lake Emma hole back
to grade. The fill material was obtained from the stockpile
left for this purpose.
3) contouring the entire disturbed area for planting. A small
area on the west side of the permitted area was not completed
due to snow left over from the almost record winter which did
not melt during the summer .
