Site Reclamation Activity
Page 5
SUNNYSIDE BASIN (LAKE EMMA) AREA - Cont 'd
4) adding amendment (limestone) , seeding and mulching the
disturbed area. This was done in the fall and the entire
disturbed area was not completed due to snow accumulation.
Limestone was added based on area soil samples. Usage ranged
from 0 tons/acre to 5 tons/acre.
Seeding was with the Lake Emma mix (attached in Appendix) at
a rate of 15 lb/acre .
5) the concept of a diversion ditch or perimeter drain around the
Lake Emma hole (TR-15 submittal ) to keep surface and
groundwater from entering the mine through the Lake Emma hole
was abandoned.
6) monitoring of the subsidence points above the open pit
highwalls. The results are in the Appendix and show no
significant changes.
Planned activity for 1994 includes:
1) completion of contouring the remaining disturbed area if snow
melts this year .
2) refilling from the stockpile any subsidence of the Lake Emma
backfill .
3 ) completion of seeding and mulching of the recontoured area.
4) maintenance of the planted areas and monitoring for growth.
5) monitoring the subsidence points although earthwork grading
is considered complete in these areas and a request will most
likely be made to relieve Sunnyside Gold Corporation from this
permit requirement.
TAILINGS POND #4 - Plate No. 3
During the 1993 reporting year , activity at this site consisted of :
1) realigning the stormwater/groundwater interception ditch to
minimize infiltration onto and under the tailings . This ditch
is upgradient of the tailings pond and has not been completed.
A state Engineer ' s well permit was received to intercept the
groundwater . An additional 1 . 8 acres were disturbed to
realign the ditch.
2) additional treatment of the out-slopes with limestone in order
to bring the total neutralization potential up to the level
considered necessary for long-term reclamation success.
