The recycle system has been operational since September 1989 , but
to-date a steady-stato laater balance has not been reached. The
reason: for this is part mechanical, and part metallurgical . The
system installed is controlled from the mill and because of the
complex electrical circuitry involved operational problems have
been experienced. With the aid of the manufacturer these
problems are being corrected. The metallurgical problems are
being solved and the amount of recycle water being used has been
increased from a starting point of 30 percent to the rate of 85
percent of daily consumption during this period. A table showing
recycle water usage by month is included in Ape_ndix- A as
required by Stipu-lation 13 of TR-09.
Planned 1990 activity for Tailings Pond #4 includes the
following:
1) Planting of the outside berm with the "Mountain Mix" seed
mixture (seed mixture analysis included in Appendix A)
specified in the permit for borrow areas. This mix will be
used over the one specified for tailings because of the
earthen berm and tailings cover placed on the outside slope
in 1989 . The area to be seeded will be approximately 13 . 5
acres.
2) Placement of the drainage net if construction of the beach
has evolved to the point where the drainage net can be
placed. Knight Piesold and Co. will be evaluating the
current design of the drainage net prior to placement .
3 ) Work toward increasing the quantity of recycle water used
during the upcoming year .
Tailings Pond No. 3 Area - Plate No. 3
Tailings Pond No. 3 was used as a spill catchment for the
tailings booster pump located at the site.
Plans for 1990 at this site is to grade the borrow area adjacent
to Pond #3 and try to establish vegetation in the borrow area and
along the banks of tailings Pond No. 3 . The seed mix to be used
is the "Mountain Mix" specified in the permit for this area.
Tailings Pond No. 1 - Plate No. 3
Tailings Pond #1 was used for solid waste storage and disposal
during the 1.989 reporting year .
Planned activity for 1990 includes spraying the pond with dust')
suppressant to control. wind erosion. /
-5-
