WATER MONITORING FOR SUNNYSIDE MINE AND MILL <br /> DATA AVAILABLE THROUGH MAY 1990 <br /> Part I - 1989-1990 Monitoring Sites <br /> No change in monitoring site was made in 1989. Bioassays <br /> were done on NPDES discharge points AT004 and MF002 as <br /> required by permits amended by the Colorado Department of <br /> Health . Sites and description are listed in Appendix <br /> B-Table 1 . <br /> Part II - Sampling and Lab Methods <br /> The company continues to strive to make improvements that <br /> will assure the best accuracy possible. Two labs are <br /> routinely used for NPDES work with the results varying <br /> greatly at times . It is unknown whether the variation in <br /> results is due to lab technique, imprecision, inaccuracy, <br /> variation in sample or interference in the sample. QA work, <br /> will continue. <br /> Part III - Data Records <br /> A computer data base continued to be upgraded and kept up to <br /> date throughout the year . Parameters analyzed for are <br /> generally the same as in 1988 report. <br /> Part IV - Water Quality Data MLRD Sites April 1989-May 1990 <br /> Data collected is presented in the Tables located in <br /> Appendix B . <br /> MAYFLOWER MILL AREA <br /> (1) Tailings Pond 3 Ditch (SCTP3-1 , SCTP3-2) Table 2 and Table 3 <br /> Flows at both sites are small to non existent much of the <br /> year . Most of the flow in SCTP3-1 is run off from hillside <br /> above the ditch. The stream generally seeps below surface <br /> before it reaches the road with a small portion percolating <br /> to the surface on the South side of the road intermittently. <br /> An attempt was :Wade to resample these sites in June 1989 as <br /> noted in last year ' s report however no flow was present at <br /> the time. No flow in October 1989 was found. Samples taken <br /> in May 1990 snow no significant increase in TDS and a slight <br /> increase in Zinc between the two sites . <br /> -7- <br />
