The Operator has stated that the groundwater elevation appears to be well below the
ground surface based on observations made in the underground mine working. Please
speck the observations which were made which indicated the depth ofground water at
the site. Also, please provide the Division with any other available documentations
which demonstrates the depth to ground water, including well records from any
monitoring wells on site.
Response:
There are no monitoring wells within the Gold Hill Minerals property. All observations are from
within the underground workings. There are no flows out the 350 Portal nor the 450 level portal.
There is a flow out of the 700 level portal.
The ground water in the Bueno Mine is primarily contained in the fractures within the Silver
Plume Granite and Idaho Springs Formation. Both of these formations are very tight, crystalline,
basement rocks which do not conduct water except through fractures and faults. The Bueno
Mine has been developed on seven different levels with several thousand feet of drifts, and
connecting raises and stopes between levels. The 350 Level is the only accessible level at this
time and is nearly completely dry in the underground workings. The lower most adit, the 700
level portal, has a small flow (approximately one gallon per minute) flowing from the adit.
16. The Applicant has stated the prospecting operation will be conducted in two phases.
Please clarify the prospecting activities which will occur during Phase 2. Will Phase 2
consist of drilling on U.S. Forest Service unpatented claims?
Response:
Phase two will consist of drilling the remaining seven exploration dill pads on US Forest Service
unpatented mining claims. Seven remaining drill pads are proposed and it is possible not all
seven will be drilled. The exploration drill activity on the USFS unpatented mining claims may
not begin until the Plan of Operations is approved by the USFS.
17. During the meeting between the Division and Gold Hills Minerals on May 4, 2012, the
Applicant indicated that remnants from the previous mining operation were being
removed from the site. The Division recognized the property owner's right to clean the
7
