The inspection was accomplished by foot traverse of
the area and observing soil, rock outcrops and vegeta-
tion for indications of subsidence. Douglas Bowman,
Environmental Coordinator, Mid-Continent Resources , Inc. ;
and Nancy B. Lamm, Project Geologist, Willard Owens
Associates , Inc. , accompanied me. Precise monitoring
techniques were reserved for later phases of inspection
since underground observations by Mid-Continent personnel
indicated that subsidence had not disturbed mine workings.
Emphasis of this observation tour was directed toward
obvious differential rock movement.
Conclusions :
Lack of evidence of surface subsidence leads to the con-
clusion that the land surface has not been affected by
subsidence within the area traversed. Study of topography,
stratigraphy, ecologic conditions and climatic effects
indicates that maximum possible subsidence would not
diminish surface usage or value.
Description of Inspection
The plan of the inspection was to examine the ground surface
above a certain mined area where visible response to sub-
sidence could be anticipated. This area is within a sector
-2-
