MEMORANDUM REPORT
Subsidence Inspection, Coal Basin Mines,
Mid-Continent Resources, Inc. September 12 , 1980
John G. Roscoe, Mining Engineer
Willard Owens Associates , Inc.
Introduction:
On September 12 , 1980, the land surface overlying mined
portions of Mid-Continent' s No. 1 and No. 2 Mines was
inspected for evidence of subsidence. The area examined
is the only portion of the mined area where complete
extraction of coal has taken place. Subsidence in the
majority of the mine area has been prevented by the
existence of pillars within the coal beds and along the
crop line.
The purpose of the inspection was to:
1. Determine if subsidence has occurred; if so,
its nature and magnitude; if not, the likeli-
hood of occurrence.
2. Aid in prediction and evaluation of future
subsidence.
-1-
