located in the northeast portion of the 40.4 acres will be taken out of irrigation for mining and the
remaining 20.4 acres will remain in alfalfa until the mining of the gravel pit extends to the full 40.4
acres. In the months of April, May, and September, depletions are greater than consumptive use
credits will be covered with a 10.0 acre-feet contract for M & I water from the U.S. Bureau of
Reclamation Blue Mesa reservoirs.
Table 2 in Appendix C is a calculation of monthly and annual depletions for the initial
mining phase of the Warren Gravel Pit. During the mining phase of the Warren Gravel Pit, 4
shares of Bona Fide Ditch water, or 0.55 cfr owned by GMI ,will be dedicated to augmentation of
out of priority depletions. For the months of June, July, and August, mining depletions will be
replaced with consumptive use credits from 20 acres taken out of irrigation. For the months of
April, May, and September, depletions not fully covered with consumptive use credits from 20
acres taken out of irrigation under the Bona Fide Ditch will be additionally replaced with releases
made from the Blue Mesa reservoirs. Transit losses from the Blue Mesa reservoirs have been
calculated to total 0.89 acre-feet per year.
Plan for Augmentation: Post - Mining Phase
Once the Warren Gravel Pit has been mined out, the pit will be filled with ground water
and augmentation will be required to offset the out of priority evaporative depletions. It is
estimated that there will be 30 acres of exposed water surface area that will be augmented with 10
shares, or 125.17 acre-fret, of Bona Fide ditch water and a contract for M & I water from the
U.S. Bureau of Reclamation Blue Mesa reservoirs in the amount of 33.0 acre-feet.
Table 3 in Appendix C is a calculation of evaporative depletions and Table 4 in Appendix
C is a calculation of evaporative depletions offset with consumptive use credits and releases made
from the Blue Mesa reservoirs.
Operation of Plan for Augmentation
During times of valid downstream calls, out of priority depletions will be augmented with
10 shares of the Bona Fide Ditch and a water service contract with the U.S. Bureau of
Reclamation for 33.0 acre-feet. The Plan for Augmentation will be operated at the discretion of
the Water Division 4 Division Engineer.
3
