MINE NUMBER 2 - PAD 2 <br /> Mine number 2 pad area includes 0 . 75 acres of excavated <br /> surface. The pad surface is uniformly flat with a slight grade <br /> of less than 2 percent . Average width of the pad area is 50 feet <br /> and ranges from 30 to 60 feet . A low 2 foot concrete wall has <br /> been constructed along the edge of the pad area . (Plate 1 & 2) <br /> The mine highwall is less than 20 feet of very steep rock cut . <br /> Drainage area above the mine highwall includes 1 . 95 acres of <br /> undisturbed steep slopes . <br /> Sediment and drainage control structures have not been <br /> constructed for the mine portal area . <br /> PAD 3 <br /> The coal storage silo and loadout occupies Pad 3 . This flat <br /> surface grades toward the haul road a 2 to 5 percent . The pad <br /> includes 0 . 44 acres . (Plate 1 & 2) <br /> Existing drainage structures include a run-out ditch that <br /> collects all drainage from the pad and transports it to two ponds . <br /> PAD 4 <br /> Pad 4 is a storage area for lumber equipment and supplies <br /> to Mines 1 and 2 . The surface is flat and drains to the southeast <br /> corner at the haul road . The surface is 1 . 14 acres in area . A <br /> small portion of land uphill to the east drains onto this pad . <br /> (Plates 1 & 2) <br /> Unlike the previous three pad areas , this pad will yield <br /> sediment without coal dust . <br /> 28 <br />
