DESIGN RrCOK.EITDATZONS
GENERAL
General design criteria described in the previous M-R report,
November 16, 1979, on Sediment and Drainage Control Stnuctures at Mines
3, 4, and 5 applies to the required sediment and draLnage structures for
Mines 1 and 2.
Design details are shown in Plates 1, 2, and 3 attached to this report.
The sedimentation and drainage control structures a: .lines Number 1
and Number 2 include the following:
1. Storm Sewer System
2. Sedimentation Pond
3. Storm Culverts
4. Earth Berms at Mine Highwalis.
STORM SEWER SYSTEM
Sediment and runoff from the pads at Mine 1 and Mine 2 wi11 be collected
and conveyed to sedimentation pond 1 via a 12-inch diameter corrugated metal
(CKP) or plastic vinyl chloride (PVC) pipe and surface ditch storm sewer
system. (Plate 1 and 2)
The 12-inch storm sewer will be 1120 feet long and will be buried at
a 5 foot depth to a 10 per cent invert grade. The centerline of this storm
sewer will be offset 5 feet from the down sloae edge of the haul road.
Sediment and runoff from dine 1 enters the storm: sewer at station
116 + 20 at a concrete intake structure. This structure includes a grate
to prevent large rock (+2 inch diameter) and debris from entering the
sewer.
-5-
29
