Apri124, 2012 C- 1981 - 010 /Trapper Mine JLE
well utilized on the Trapper Mine reclaimed lands.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05; Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,
4.05.6, Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2, Ground Water
Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8;
Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
The following ponds were inspected
Covote Pond was holding water but was not discharging. Graham Roberts conducted a required MSHA inspection
of the dam embankment. The embankment was stable with thick vegetation established. The primary and
emergency spillways were clear of trash and debris.
East Middle Flume was holding water but was not discharging.
Middle Flume 43 was holding water and was discharging. The discharged water appeared clear. The
embankment and spillway was stable.
Oak 42 was holding water but was not discharging. The embankment was stable and vegetated. The sediment
marker had been knocked down and will need to be replaced.
Johnson l OR was holding water and discharging. The discharge water was clear. Several badger holes were
observed in the embankment and will need to be filled.
No Name 5R was holding water and discharging. The discharge water was clear. The embankment was stable.
The following drainages were inspected:
Oak drainage was walked from the Oak 91 pond to where it intersects the Life of Mine Road. The drainage
between these two points is very steep and has become incised. The drainage bisects parcel A -B -00 a Phase 3
released parcel. A corridor surrounds this drainage that has not been released. The side slopes are vertical in
many locations and are eroding. The top of these slopes have been topsoiled and the erosion is resulting in some
loss of this material. The Operator has placed check -dams at many locations along the drainage in the past and
they have all been blown through. Also, erosion control matting and brush appears to have been placed in the
channel and have since failed. Stabilization and maintenance of this channel is necessary. In accordance with
Rule 4.05.3(1)(e) diversions must be designed, located, constructed, maintained and used to minimize adverse
impacts to the hydrologic balance, and to be stable.
Several portions of the East Pyeatt drainage were walked. The lower part of the channel is rock lined. Several
check -dams have been blown through, but overall vegetation has established in the drainage.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLANCE:
All of the draglines were working the K Pit at the time of the inspection.
ROADS — Rule 4.03; Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3), Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4), Surfacing and
Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6), Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 9
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 4 of 7
