Apri124, 2012 C- 1981 - 010 /Trapper Mine JLE
Many of the haul and access roads were observed during the inspection. Surface grading and watering of the roads
was observed. The side drainages were maintained and functioning.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
Many portions of reclamation parcels within the F Pit area were observed. Grass, forbs and shrubs seedlings have
established in parcels F- AB -09, F- AB -08, F- AB -07, F- AB -06, F- AB -05, F- AB -04. There is a difference in the
cover and species established observed in the more recently reclaimed parcels than the older parcels. As one
progresses to the west toward the older parcels, the cover of the desired vegetation increases and larger stands of
Great Basin Wild Rye become more dominant. Big sagebrush seedlings were very numerous in the newer
reclamation parcels. According to Mr. Luke, elk utilize the stands of Great Basin Wild Rye for cover and a food
source during the winter. Evidence of wildlife use of these parcels is apparent. A large number of tracks,
droppings and browsed shrub seedlings were observed.
Several larger erosion gullies were observed within the F Pit reclaimed parcels. The locations of these gullies
were collected with a GPS unit. The locations of these gullies are listed in Table 7 below and are highlighted on
Map C attached to this report. These gullies will need to be repaired.
Table 7; Erosion Gullies Locations (UTM NAD83, Zone 13)
Point
ID
Northing
Easting
14
4478066.21
283752.05
15
4477850.31
283308.60
16
4477930.39
283134.13
17
4477932.43
283146.71
37
4478705.52
283876.13
REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15, Vegetative Cover; Timing:
The following shrub clumps were inspected:
SC- F -lOB; gamble oak, service berry and choke cherry shrubs were observed in the clump. Service berry and
choke cherry have begun to leaf out. The shrubs were evenly spaced throughout the clump. Russian thistle was
thick between the shrub pads. Some grass has begun to establish throughout the clump.
SC- F -IOA; gamble oak, service berry and choke cherry shrubs were observed in the clump. Many of the shrubs in
this clump had not begun to leaf out. Cheatgrass was observed between the shrub pads in this clump.
SC -F -04; gamble oak, service berry and choke cherry shrubs were observed in the clump. Many of the shrub pads
within the clump do not appear to be alive or they have not begun to leaf out yet. Smaller shrubs were establishing
under the older shrubs.
SC -F -06; gamble oak, service berry and choke cherry shrubs were observed in the clump. Similar to SC -1
many of the shrub pads within the clump do not appear to be alive or they have not begun to leaf out yet. A large
group of antelope was observed within the clump.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 9
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 5 of 7
