total herbaceous production and therefore no "excess" annual /biennial production deduction was used in
2010. Noxious weed production was not collected.
Since the 2010 BRB PSCM -1 allowable herbaceous production exceeds 90 percent of the production
performance standard (Figure C -2, Table C -1), and sample adequacy has not been demonstrated (with a
minimum of 30 samples) (Table C -4), testing for reclamation success for Phase III is undertaken using a
one - sample reverse -nullt -test (CDMG 2005 rules 4.15.1 (2)(c)).
A reverse -null t -test of the assertion that the 2010 BRB PSCM -1 allowable herbaceous production
exceeds from the Weighted Reference Area allowable herbaceous production performance standard is as
follows:
t =
x — (0.9 *Weighted Reference Area performance standard)
(s )
1973.5 — 495.0
tc _ _ 8.45
1006,4
\0
Since critical t = 0.854 (one - tailed, alpha = 0.2, 29 df) and t, is greater than this critical value, the
hypothesis of no difference is rejected and revegetation success for Phase III herbaceous production for
2010 is demonstrated.
WOODY PLANT DENSITY
Figure C -3 and C-4 graphically presents the "Background" and "Concentration Area" woody plant density
averages for 2010 BRB PSCM -1, respectively. As can be seen, the 805 stems per acre observed in the
Background area far exceeds the 180 stems per acre (90 percent of the 200 stems per acre background
standard) performance standard. The 2092 stems per acre observed in the Concentration area also
exceeds the 1800 stems per acre (90 percent of the 2000 stems per acre background standard)
performance standard. The total Concentration Area identified was 229.2 acres, or 22.1% of the BRB
PSCM -1 (1039.4 acres). Hence the standard that there would be at least 5% of the Phase III BRB block
with at least 2000 stems per acre has been met for 2010.
21
