Haul and access road storm water and sediment control will be managed through the use
of diversions, drainage ditches, culverts, flow - velocity controls, and barriers to sediment
movement, including interim revegetation. Prior to release to drainages, storm water
runoff will be routed via ditches through sediment control devices consistent with
applicable best management practices ( "BMPs ") such as silt fences, rock check dams,
and other effective measures. After such temporary detention, storm water runoff will be
allowed to continue downgradient. Flow velocity reduction measures will be employed
along channels, as necessary, to minimize erosion. These measures will include, but will
not be limited to, vegetative strips, riprap, check dams, geotextile, and use of vegetation
slash. These features will be reviewed and maintained as part of the site -wide Storm
Water Management Plan.
5.8.2 Public Roads
MLE2 will require changes to the intersection of mine roads with one public roads,
vacation of a County Road, and realignment of a portion of SH 67.
The access road from CR 82 into the Ironclad facility will be modified to provide for a
development of the North Cresson Mine area. The intersection with CR 82 is not
anticipated to require modification, but the alignment of the access road will be moved to
the east to prevent interference with future mining (see Drawing C -4).
The American Eagles Overlook and the American Eagles access road will remain open
during daylight hours subject to the terms of the agreement with Teller County, except
for short periods when the road cannot be safely maintained due to mining activities. An
additional access road to the American Eagles overlook from the City of Victor will be
reestablished utilizing the existing haul road from the Main Cresson Mine area to the East
Cresson Mine area once final reclamation is complete at the Cresson Project.
The construction of the SGVLF will necessitate realignment of a portion of SH 67. As
with previous highway realignment necessitated by CC &V operations, CC &V is working
with CDOT on the details of the relignment. SH 67 will be realigned to run across the
top of the SGVLF toe berm once the berm has been constructed. In order to
accommodate continued use of the highway while CC &V is constructing the toe berm
and connecting sections to the existing highway, CC &V is proposing to install a multi -
plate tunnel on a portion of SH 67 in Squaw Gulch. Vehicles using the highway would
pass through the tunnel while construction equipment hauling materials for use in the toe
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension 2
5 -23
