berm construction and road fill for the roadbed would pass over the top of the tunnel. For
details on the tunnel and access route over the top of the tunnel see Appendix 9, Volume
V.
The construction of the SGADR will also require a new security access from the
realigned portion of SH 67 to the Squaw Gulch facilities. CC &V will obtain the
appropriate Highway Access Permit approval from CDOT for construction of the
intersection and will work with CDOT to ensure the realigned portion of SH 67 is
designed with the appropriate turning lanes for this access.
The construction in Squaw Gulch will impact CR 881. CC &V is working with Teller
County on the vacation of CR 881 between SH 67 and Shelf Road in Squaw Gulch.
Public roads will not be used by CC &V for hauling overburden or ore. However, there is
a growth medium stockpile located south of previously approved realigned SH 67 that
will continue to be accessed during reclamation of the AGVLF. This stockpile and
crossing of SH 67 to access this stockpile were approved under Amendment No. 8 and no
change in those activities is proposed as part of MLE2.
5.8.3 Access Roads
Access roads within CC &V's operating area will continue to be constructed for light
vehicle and delivery vehicle traffic. Access roads are constructed of appropriate
materials to approximate a two -lane road width. Depending on the locations and
anticipated duration of use, the access roads may be accompanied by drainage ditches or
other drainage control measures to minimize the potential for excessive erosion.
5.8.4 Haul Roads
MLE2 will use existing primary haul roads with new roads added as needed to provide
access to extended mine areas. Additional haul road construction will occur as needed to
facilitate the movement of overburden and ore at the Cresson Project. An existing
primary haul road approved for MLE will be utilized to access the High Grade Mill
facilities and the SGVLF.
Roads internal to the mine areas will vary constantly as the Cresson Project develops for
either ore recovery or mine backfill. These ramps will typically be within the footprints
of the surface mine areas.
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension 2
5 -24
