is anticipated to be moved within approximately two years (see Table 12 -1 and Exhibit
J).
If necessary, erosion control structures, run -on diversion ditches, or equivalent structures
designed for the 10 -year, 24 -hour precipitation event will be constructed upgradient of
growth medium stockpiles for protection. A more complete discussion of water and
sediment control from storm water runoff is contained in Section 10.0 of this Project
Description.
5.4.3 Mining Areas, Operations, and Equipment
Approximately 220 MT of ore and 310 MT of overburden will be mined as part of
MLE2. Mining and backfilling will continue in the previously approved areas,
predominantly in the Main Cresson Mine area, North Cresson Mine area, and East
Cresson Mine area. Each mine area is shown on Drawing C -4 to the planned depth.
Generalized cross sections of the mine areas are included on Drawing C -6, which show
the depths of mining and the extent of backfilling.
Mining will continue to utilize conventional surface mining excavation methods as they
presently occur at the Cresson Project. Some ore handling methods will change slightly
due to the addition of the High Grade Mill facilities. The overburden and ore will be
mined using conventional production blasting, loaded into haul trucks with hydraulic
shovels or front end loaders, and hauled to the appropriate location. The mine areas will
be developed in a series of benches. The height and the width of the benches will vary
depending on the local geology, stability of the wall material, and mining needs.
Discussion of wall stability is contained in Section 5.4.5 of this Project Description.
The MLE2 will be mined using existing equipment with replacement as needed and the
addition of up to five new haul trucks and one new piece of hydraulic loading equipment.
At the High Grade Mill facilities, there will be a new loader and two new haul trucks.
Table 5 -5 presents the anticipated equipment list.
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension 2
5 -11
