ENVIRONMENTAL SETTING <br />The general environmental setting is similar to that of the original Seneca II -W (Wheeler <br />1971) cultural resource report, although there are some differences. This area is under- <br />lain by the Lewis Shale rather than the Williams Fork Formation. <br />Other specific environmental differences include lower elevation, less vegetational <br />variation, and a decrease in wildlife species observed. Elevation ranges from approxi- <br />mately 6400 feet to 6680 feet. The proposed haul road corridor crosses wheatfields, low <br />sagebrush, and greasewood communities. Wildlife observed in the area included deer, <br />jackrabbit, red - tailed hawk, and vultures. <br />Figure 5A -I shows the location of the haul road in relation to the mine permit area. <br />5A -3 <br />
