SURVEY PROCEDURES <br />Field Method <br />The haul road area was surveyed by a team of four archaeologist walking in a parallel <br />zigzag pattern approximately 25 -35 meters apart down one half of the right -of -way, then <br />back down the other half. This afforded some coverage outside the right -of -way. This <br />was necessary as the route was not flagged or staked. The route shown in Figure 5A -2 <br />was relatively easy to follow as there were a number of features, both topographic and <br />cultural, to use as landmarks. However, this extra coverage obtained by walking eight <br />transects through and outside of the 600 foot right -of -way should insure the appropriate <br />area was in fact examined. Cultural resources were handled in the some manner as <br />outlined in the original report. <br />5A -4 <br />
