2.05.6(3)
• The only possible area where the mining
operation could effect surface water users is along Naturita
Creek, between Broad Canyon upstream and the San Miguel River
downstream. No water rights are shown in this stretch of Naturi-
ta Creek on the Water Rights Location Map, Drawing No. 111.
However, according to Lyman Campbell, the local District 60 Water
Commissioner, up to three landowners have applied for a point of
diversion change for the Warner Ditch which will allow them to
pump water from this section of Naturita Creek. Their use of
this water is for lawn and garden irrigation.
If the mining operation impacted the quantity
or quality of water in Naturita Creek to the extent it was not
available for lawn and garden irrigation then the Applicant will
develop an alternate source of water for the effected users.
This alternate source of water would be from the town of
Naturita's potable water supply system. The Applicant would
agree to pay the cost to have the effected users connected to the
Town's water system, if they are not already connected, plus the
additional cost for the effected users to use potable water to
irrigate their lawn and gardens.
According to Tom Blood, Utility Manager, Town
of Naturita, the Town's potable water supply system could be ex-
tended to service the effected users. The Town's water system is
a metered system.
• The B & W Spring, map code 11, shown on the
Water Rights Location Map is near the mining operation. This
spring is currently used for stock watering during early spring
and late fall. If the mining operation impacted the quantity or
quality of water from the spring, the applicant will develop an
alternate source of water to replace the spring. This alternate
source would be to haul water to a location near the existing
spring. The water to be hauled would be obtained from a private-
ly owned water right, from Naturita Creek or the San Miguel
River, or from the Town of Naturita Water Supply system.
• 2.05-34 May 1991
