(f) The size of area that will be worked at any one time will not exceed the permit
area. The area to be disturbed at one time depends on the market conditions
and may be as large as the entire 110 Limited Impact Permit boundary area. No
excavation is to be done, therefore no stockpiles for topsoil or overburden.
However, areas of Timber slash (Timber slash consists of, not only, tree crowns,
limbs and discarded logs, as well as stumps) will be in location throughout the
permit area for use during reclamation.
(g) The road from the gate to the processing area is expected to be 11' -13' feet
wide and lead to the processing area. The road is an existing road that has been
used for accessing the ranch property and the future residential home site. The
road will not be reclaimed rather is will remain for the property to access the new
home site.
(h) No water will be used in the production of the product. Water will only be used
for dust control and Best Management Practices. It will be form local sources
and trucked to the site.
(i) No groundwater will be encountered during the mining - extraction process.
Stormwater diversions and impoundments will be done in a way to prevent
erosion and sedimentation. Care will be taken while mining (rock picking), to
divert storm water. Water that collects on the harvesting area will percolate into
the underlying soils.
(j) The operator /applicant will comply with Colorado water quality laws and
regulations governing injury to existing water rights. It is not anticipated that any
water will be encountered. If ground water is encountered, the proper steps at the
State Engineers office will be complied with.
(k) No acid or toxic materials will be used or encountered on this site. No
processing will take place that uses water or any toxic materials.
(1) The hydrologic balance will not be influenced by the mining (rock picking) on
this site. The initial preparation of the surface before extraction of the boulders
and assorted selected rocks will consist of clearing some of the trees that are in
the boulder field. Since the activity of rock picking will only disturbed the soil on
which the boulder or rock contact the soil no excavation will be required. An
excavators, and a rubber tired loader will be use to collect the rock from the
boulder field. This activity will not change the historic drainage of the site.
