CPeP was placed and
sandbagged in accordance with design drawings and project specifications.
2) Drain Cover Fill (DCF)
Drain cover fill (DCF) placement within the Phase 5 VLF continued. DCF was placed in the
areas shown on Figure 5A and Figure 5B. The DCF was hauled from the processing area to the
placement area using 40 -ton articulating haul trucks. The DCF was placed in a 2 -foot lift using
various CAT dozers except where haul routes were established. Haul route consisted of five -
foot lifts to be spread into 2 -foot lifts later. Laborers were present at all times during placement
holding the high volume collection piping in place, removing debris /sandbags, and assisting
the dozer operator with lift thickness. All DCF was placed on previously approved primary
geomembrane. AMEC field representatives monitored the DCF placement constantly.
E) Leak Detection Trench
1) VLF
Construction of the 10,060' bench leak detection manhole was performed near station A0 +00
( + / -), adjacent to the 9,910 bench manhole. The excavation was performed using a CAT 312
excavator and the subgrade was prepared using a jumping jack compactor. A 36" diameter
HDPE SDR 21 pipe with a welded HDPE bottom was place in the excavation. The 3" solid
HDPE pipe was placed through the inlet of the sump. The leak detection manhole was
backfilled with soil liner fill using a CAT 312 excavator and a jumping jack compactor. Leak
detection manhole construction was observed and inspected by an AMEC field representative
and found to be constructed in accordance with design drawing and project specifications.
HI) Material Processing
A) Drain Cover Fill Process Area
Processing of Drain Cover Fill (DCF) continued at the DCF process area using a CAT dozer.
IV)VLF Geosynthetics
A) Geomembrane Installation
1) VLF
Geomembrane installation within the Phase 5 VLF resumed performing deployment, seaming,
and repair /QC activities. Geomembrane installation was performed in the area shown on
Figure 3. Approximately 373, 889 square feet of 80mil LLDPE was deployed using a Komatsu
VLF Weekly Report WE 10.22.2011
