amed
representative and found to be constructed in accordance with design drawings and project
specifications.
Anchor trench backfill was performed between stations A39 +00 ( + / -) and A44 +00 ( + / -), near
centerline, and between stations A4 +00 ( + / -) and A8 +30 ( + / -), near centerline, and between
stations J25 +00 ( + / -) and J30 +20 ( + / -) using a John Deere 35D excavator, a vibratory plate
compactor and laborers. An AMEC field representative observed the backfill and it was found
to be constructed in accordance with design drawings and project specifications.
E) Geomembrane Acceptance
1) VLF
Primary 80mil geomembrane (P937 -P939 and P991- P1033) shown on Figure 4 was inspected
by AMEC and Lonestar representatives and found to be installed within project specifications
and acceptable for continued construction activities.
CQA ACTIVITIES:
SUMMARY:
The CQA activities performed consisted of observing, documenting and recording the construction
activities of the contractor.
AMEC observed slope contouring within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed and assisted in the placement of SLF material within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC inspected and approved subgrade prior to geomembrane deployment within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed, logged data, and assisted in the installation of geomembrane within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed the excavation and backfill of anchor trenches within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC inspected and approved 80mil primary geomembrane within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed the installation of the high volume solution collection system within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed, obtained samples, and assisted in the process of DCF material at the DCF Process area.
AMEC observed the DCF placement within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed leak detection system construction within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed the remediation of the UG #3014 area.
Testing Summary
Laboratory testing continued (Particle Size Distribution, Atterberg Limits, Moisture- Density Relations,
Specific Gravity, Permeability, and Point Load testing) for sampled materials.
VLF Weekly Report WE 09.24.2011
