Mr. Wallace H. Erickson
Response to August 23, 2011 Bird Memorandum
September 9, 2011
Page 4
approved Stormwater Management Plan. See Attachment 3 (Attachment D -6, Figure
D -2).
Adequacy Issue No. C. Attachment D -7, Tailings Geochemical Characterization
Work Plan:
1) The Applicant must describe the type of testing that will be used to
determine the concentrations of Arsenic, Copper, Iron (Fe[II] and
Fe[III]), Lead, Potassium, Zinc, and Sulfate.
2) ABA: In addition to total sulfur all tests must include sulfide sulfur.
3) Humidity Cell Test: The collection of sample material for the tailings
humidity cell test must be done with the DRMS geochemist present. The
humidity cell test must be conducted under the conditions outlined in the
Division's adequacy review of 25 March 2011, i.e., the test must be run
indefinitely or until notified otherwise by the division and the analyte list
must be as described in the 25 March 2011 review.
4) For the "solution characterization method to analyze for pH acidity
alkalinity metals anions nitrates minerals cyanides organic carbon and
total dissolved solids TDS ", the Applicant must describe the analytical
methodologies to be used for each.
Response to Adequacy Issue No. C.
Response to Adequacy Issue No. C.1.
Wildcat proposes to perform testing on Arsenic, Copper, Iron (Fe[II] and Fe[III]),
Lead, Potassium, Zinc, and Sulfate using ICP /MS:
Wildcat commits to consulting with DRMS for all solids tests (e.g., SPLP, humidity
cell, acid -base accounting, whole rock analyses, solution characterization methods) prior to
the tests to determine appropriate sampling and analytical parameters, including, but not
limited to, what is regarded as a representative sample, the appropriate analytical suite for
each test, and laboratories that are qualified to perform the tests. Wildcat proposes to
analyze tailings analytes using a method set forth in Actlabs geochemistry /assay and
geometallurgy protocols (www.actlabs.com) and approved by DRMS.
Response to Adequacy Issue No. C.2.
ABA tests will include analysis for sulfide sulfur.
DEN 97, 591, 783v2 9 -9 -11
GREENBERG TRAURIG, LLP • ATTORNEYS AT LAW • WWW.GTLAW.COM
