Mr. Wallace H. Erickson
Response to August 22, 2011 Cazier Memorandum
September 9, 2011
Page 5
• Submit technical memorandum with updated analysis and any modified
design for the New Access Road or for riprap specified in work plans or in
the Stormwater Management Plan (Exhibit U, Attachment U -3), as necessary,
to DRMS through either the Technical Revision or Amendment process, as
appropriate.
• After obtaining DRMS approval through the Technical Revision or
Amendment process, proceed with remainder of work plan.
Adequacy Issue No. 6.
Page 3, Construction. No specifics are provided for culvert installation. Culverts are to
be installed on proper bedding (reference CDOT specifications for example) and shall be
placed no closer than 1/2 diameter apart.
Response to Adequacy Issue No. 6.
Wildcat will add a second bullet under the Construction, Road Drainage Control
section at Page 3 of Attachment D -3, as follows:
• Culverts will be installed pursuant to Section 603 of the CDOT Standard
Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction (2011) where the CMP
pipes will be placed no closer than 12 inches apart and buried in a trench with
at least 18 inches of cover;
Adequacy Issue No. 7.
Page 5, Quality Assurance. The following items do not appear to be relevant to the work
plan and should be removed, or provide some narrative describing how they are relevant:
a. Second bullet related to retaining wall foundation excavations and
roadway over excavation.
b. Third bullet related to laboratory testing. No borings /test pits are
proposed in the work plan, so there is apparently nothing to test.
c. Fourth bullet related to fill material placement in 8 -12 inch lifts and field
density tests. This should be removed unless this is the planned approach
for the 18 inches of cover over the culverts.
DEN 97, 591, 786v1 9 -9 -11
GREENBERG TRAURIG, LLP • ATTORNEYS AT LAW • WWW.GTLAW.COM
