Mr. Wallace H. Erickson
Response to August 22, 2011 Hays Memorandum
September 9, 2011
Page 11
Response to Adequacy Issue No. 18.
Wildcat will revise the second bullet in the Construction Specifications section of
its New Access Road Construction Work Plan to read as follows:
• New fill slopes less than 1.5(H):1(V) will be constructed without
reinforcement (retaining walls, buttress). Slopes at or steeper than
1.5(H):1(V) will be constructed as outlined in the attached design or pursuant
to revised design submitted following Wildcat's proposed engineering and
geologic evaluation pursuant to the Technical Revision or Amendment
process; and,
Adequacy Issue No. 19.
In the Retaining Structures section of the Work Plan the Applicant discuss three options
for reconstruction of the fill slope for the road. The CLC as -built drawings submitted by
the Applicant with the work plan do not include these options for the fill reconstruction.
Please explain this inconsistency and provide as -build drawings for the other two fill
reconstruction options.
Response to Adequacy Issue No. 19.
Wildcat will delete the last two sentences of the first bullet under the Retaining
Structures section at Pages 8 and 9 of the New Access Road Work Plan. After
completing the engineering and geologic evaluations described in the Pre - Construction
section at Page 5 of the New Access Road Work Plan, Wildcat will submit any
modifications to its proposed design, as necessary, through the Technical Revision or
Amendment process.
Adequacy Issue No. 20.
In the Retaining Structures section of the Work Plan the Applicant states the fill will be
placed in "thin lifts ". Please provide a specification for maximum lift thickness for fill
placement or commit to providing this information in the required geotechnical report
after completion of the additional investigation (See Question # 6 above).
Response to Adequacy Issue No. 20.
Wildcat is proposing a maximum lift thickness of 8 to 12 inches. However lift
specification maybe modified pending the results from the geotechnical assessment.
After completing the engineering and geologic evaluations described in the Pre -
Construction section at Page 5 of the New Access Road Work Plan, Wildcat will submit
any modifications to its proposed maximum lift thickness, as necessary, through the
Technical Revision or Amendment process.
DEN 97, 591, 784v1 9 -9 -11
GREENBERG TRAURIG, LLP • ATTORNEYS AT LAW • WWW.GTLAW.COM
