4.1 .4 No other conditions exist which might endanger the levee. <br />Dur'ng Rood conditions, imm ediate steps will be taken to control { any condition which <br />endangers the levee and to repair the damaged section. Appropriate advance preparedness <br />-measures will be taken to provide for the availability of adequate labor and materials to <br />meet contingencies. <br />4. Flood Warning system <br />Flood Warnings are not required for the University of Colorado at Boulder Flood Control <br />Project since the Project was designed without control structures that require manned <br />operation. However, the Flood Superintendent shall be responsible for an awareness of <br />weather conditions that could lead to potential flooding. During times of potential flooding, <br />the Flood superintendent will communicate with the Deaver Water Deparment (DAD) <br />(regarding Gross Reservoir), the National Weather Service, U DD, the Boulder County <br />Emergency Preparedness office, and Boulder County Sheriff s Department. <br />During tunes of flooding the Flood Superintendent shall be responsible for activating the <br />Flood operation Plan which requires levee patrols during flood periods. <br />4. Flood Operations Flan <br />The University of Colorado at Boulder has agreed to implement the operation and <br />Maintenance Plan, including the Flood Operations Flan, and is included as a part of this <br />Manual as Appendix E. <br />5.0 MAINTENANCE PLANS AND CRITERIA <br />5.1 Levee <br />The University of Colorado at Boulder shall provide at all tines such maintenance as may <br />be required to provide for serviceability of the levee in time of flood. Measures shall be <br />taken to exterminate burrowing animals; to provide for the removal of old growth (such as <br />trees and brush) and drift deposits; and to repair damages caused by erosion or other forces. <br />Periodic it speetions shah be made by the Flood Superintendent or its representative to <br />insure that these maintenance measures are being carried out. Periodic inspections shall be <br />made by the Flood Superintendent to determine that: <br />.1.1 No unusual settlement, sloughing or material loss of grade or levee section <br />-, has t Deft . ace, <br />5.1.2 No caving has occurred on either the land side or the channel side of the <br />levee which night meet the stability of the levee section. <br />10075757 DWI 9 <br />
