July 19,2011 C-1981-010/Trapper Mine RDZ <br /> GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLANCE: <br /> The mine was found to be in general compliance with the permit. <br /> The following mining activities were observed on July 19(blasting described in Explosives section): <br /> • In the large slide area(2006 slide in G Pit area)heavy equipment was building a new road,and an <br /> excavator was removing culverts that had been buried. <br /> • Near the east border,no unapproved disturbance was observed. <br /> • Drill rigs were seen in the K Strike Pit area. The Le Tourneau loader was loading trucks with spoil,and a <br /> dozer was pushing recently shot spoil into a pile. The Molly Brown dragline was idle for repairs. <br /> The following mining activities were observed on July 20(blasting described in Explosives section): <br /> • In the F Pit,the Baby Doe dragline was casting interburden to spoil piles west of the pit. The Queen Ann <br /> dragline was idle. <br /> ROADS—Rule 4.03: <br /> Many roads were observed during the inspection, including Life-of-Mine,North AE,Middle AE, South AE,Kl, <br /> K2,North A,Z3,Middle Z,Middle A,West Ash,Middle Ash,B/C Haul Road,and several pond access roads. <br /> All active haul roads were stable and were functioning as permitted at the time of the inspection. A scraper was <br /> grading the Middle Z Road during the inspection. The access road to the Oak Gulch ponds was washed out at the <br /> crossing of the stream. <br /> Several ditch-outs were inspected along the Life-of-Mine Road,and no significant erosion or other problems were <br /> observed. <br /> RECLAMATION SUCCESS -Rule 4.15,Rule 3: <br /> On the areas that were inspected from the roads and from walking,no erosion problems were observed,with two <br /> exceptions. Rills were observed on the reclaimed slope north of the Ash Pit(as they have been in the past). These <br /> are covered to some degree by vegetation,which will help heal them. In parcel F-AB-07,approximately one- <br /> quarter mile above topsoil pile F-2-07,rills were observed. Some of these have been treated with branches and are <br /> healing. Others have not been treated and are approximately two feet wide and 18 inches or more in depth. <br /> Continued monitoring of these rills is advised. <br /> White Top was observed in many areas of the mine site, including areas near Johnson#6 pond, and parcels F-AB- <br /> 06,F-AB-07,and F-AB-08. Cheat grass was also observed in many places,including F-AB-08. Canada thistle <br /> was observed above the access road crossing of Oak Gulch and near Johnson#6 pond. These weeds should be <br /> continually monitored and managed as required in the permit,which includes spraying of White Top.
