July 19,2011 C-1 981-010/Trapper Mine RDZ
All observed blasting activities were at least 500 feet from the East Panel Ready Line, based on visual observation
and a discussion in the office with Larry Johns, blasting engineer.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05:
Within the East A Pit,an evaporator was operating to reduce the amount of water in the pond,as the Trapper site
has received large amount of precipitation throughout 2011.
Eighteen ponds were inspected. This includes all of the ponds that have CDPS discharge points with the following
exceptions: Far East Buzzard,Grouse#2, Sage#2, East Flume,Deer, and Ute were not inspected. Other ponds
(without CDPS points)were also inspected: No Name#2,No Name#4,Johnson#6,East Pyeatt#1,East Pyeatt
#2,Oak#1,Impoundment H,and the Industrial Waste Pond.
The following ponds were discharging: Oak#2,Middle Flume#3,West Horse,Deal, all East Pyeatt ponds, all No
Name ponds, and all observed Johnson ponds. For all ponds that were discharging the water was clear. A CO2
bubbler was being employed at Johnson#1 OR to lower pH.
No serious problems were identified with any of the ponds. The following maintenance items were identified
during the inspection:
• East Pyeatt#1 needs to have sediment removed.
• The dozer basins in Oak Gulch need to be cleaned.
• Riser pipes require repair at No Name#4 and Johnson#6.
• Flumes need to be cleaned at West Flume and East Middle Flume.
• Burrow holes should be filled at Johnson#6.
• Erosion in inlet channel should be repaired at Industrial Waste pond.
• Within Impoundment H,Russian Olive trees require removal.
Contour ditches west of F Pit were inspected and no blow-outs or other problems were found.
Within three observed channels, banks have been significantly eroded and require maintenance: the channel
downstream of East Pyeatt#3 pond, the channel next to Middle A Road(a tributary to East Pyeatt), and the
channel downstream of culvert AE10. A construction crew had begun work on East Pyeatt#3 during the
inspection.
Several culverts were inspected and maintenance needs were observed:
• Many culverts along LOM Road and North A Road-no maintenance needs.
• Culvert across Middle Ash Road—no maintenance needs.
• SA4A-some sediment removal needed at upstream end.
• Culvert next to shop(along D Pit Road)requires cleaning.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 11
