Schwartzwalder Mine 2 6 July 2011
TR -18 Adequacy Review - Revised File No. M- 1977 -300
5) Describe how data collection efforts in the alluvium will be affected and modified during times that
Ralston Creek flow exceeds the design criteria of 100 cfs.
6) Indicate which remaining characterization and mitigation/cleanup activities mentioned in Section 3.1 will
be done under TR -18 or a future TR. If under TR -18, provide a revised detailed plan and schedule for the
activities and deliverables.
7) Indicate whether characterization and investigation of the mineral loading contribution from the waste
rock dumps will be part of the program to be carried out under TR -18 or a future TR. If under TR -18,
provide a detailed plan and schedule for the activities and deliverables. If the activities will occur under TR-
18, provide a plan for augmentation of the existing monitoring system that will allow characterization of
mineral loading contributions from the waste rock dumps to the shallow ground water and to surface water.
8) Provide an estimate of the volume of earth that will have to be excavated to allow room for installation of
the cutoff walls. Provide details on what will be done with the earth removed, and whether it will be
returned to its place of origin upon reclamation, and if not returned to its place of origin, how it will be
reclaimed and stabilized for the post- mining time frame.
9) Provide locations, dimensions (length, height, width), and detailed designs of the cutoff walls.
10) The possibility of accelerated dewatering to expedite installation of diversion structures was discussed on
site. Provide details of number, location, depth, and construction details of dewatering wells or other means
proposed. Commit to providing well completion diagrams to the Division within a reasonable time
following well installation.
11) Indicate how and when the 4,000 ft long pipe, the cutoff wall, and any other concrete or steel structures
other will be removed at the conclusion of the project.
12) Understanding that possible irrigation requirements are not yet finalized, please provide the anticipated
rates of irrigation water application and anticipated time periods of application.
13) Provide the anticipated time duration of the post - operational biological monitoring period, presented in
Section 3.2, for stream habitat restoration.
14) The Operator must commit to installing some type of metering or other means with which to measure the
flow entering or exiting the pipe. The operator will commit to measuring flow weekly until further notice.
15) The Operator must commit to monitoring ground water levels in all monitoring wells on at most a
monthly basis until notified otherwise by the Division. Water quality sampling may continue on a quarterly
basis.
16) Describe the procedure that would be followed if the pipe should need repair or maintenance after it has
been installed and is in service.
17) The Division requires more details for the purpose of verifying /calculating the financial warranty.
