ameca
B) Geomembrane Exposure
1) VLF
Previously installed geomembrane was exposed using a John Deere 35D excavator and
laborers between stations H13+00 (+/-) and H23+00 (+/-). The geomembrane was exposed to
allow for new geomembrane to be tied in and was observed by an AMEC field representative.
C) Anchor Trench
1) VLF
Excavation of the existing anchor trench was performed between stations H23+00 (+/-) and
H32+00 (+/-) was performed to allow for soil liner fill (SLF) placement in the area. This was
performed using a John Deere 35D and laborers. An AMEC field representative observed the
anchor trench excavation constantly. The full depth of the anchor trench was excavated were
saturated SLF was encountered.
Anchor trench backfill was performed between stations H24+00 (+/-) and H29+00 (+/-) using a
John Deere excavator, a vibratory plate compactor, two jumping jack compactors, and laborers.
This was performed to replace any saturated SLF removed from the trench. An AMEC field
representative observed the backfill and it was found to be performed in accordance with
design drawings and project specifications.
D) Geomembrane Acceptance
1) VLF
No geomembrane was deployed or accepted during the week.
E) Geomembrane Delivery
1) VLF
No geomembrane delivered during the week.
CQA ACTIVITIES:
SUMMARY:
The CQA activities performed consisted of observing, documenting and recording the construction
activities of the contractor.
AMEC observed slope contouring within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed compaction of subgrade.
AMEC inspected and approved subgrade prior to SLF placement.
AMEC observed and assisted in the placement of SLF material.
AMEC observed the exposure of previously installed geomembrane.
AMEC observed the excavation and backfill of the existing (temporary) Phase 5 anchor trench.
VLF Weekly Report WE 06.04.2011
