Colowyo Coal Company
?• 5731 State Highway 13
O Meeker, CO 81641
T:970-824-1500
1m+•
P•
O Colowyo's NPDES permit allows for a daily maximum of 70 mgd for TSS limits. The
May 4, 2010 sample for Outfall 011A was 42 mg/1 respectively. Colowyo reported this
on the second quarter DMR. Therefore, Colowyo was in compliance with effluent limits
contained in the NPDES permit and was not required to do any additional reporting
other than the DMR reporting process.
SECTION 2
Rule Requirement - Rule 4.05.13(4)(c)
Subparagraph (i) - The word "quality" should be "quantity."
Response.• This has been revised as requested.
Subparagraph (ii) - The word "three" in the first sentence should be "four."
Response: This has been revised as requested.
Subparagraph (iii) - A written interpretation of the data is requested by the Division, per
Rule 4.05.13(4)(c)(iii). This was agreed upon during review of the 2009 AHR. This
should include, but not be limited to, a discussion on relatively high values of TSS and
Iron (in May for sites NUGSC, LTWFGSC, and LGSC) and potential impacts on receiving
waters, namely Good Spring Creek and Taylor Creek.
Response. A reference to the General Trends for Surface Water and General Trends for
Groundwaterhas been included in Section 2, subparagraph (iii). Colowyo felt the
discussion was more appropriate in this section in the AHR rather than in the requested
location. The discussion can be located on page 2-5.
General Discussion
Please explain the term "Ambig. SW" that appears in the columns for metals in the data
tables (Exhibit 2A).
Response.• The term `Ambig. SW"has been removed from all surface water data tables.
Colowyo is also unsure why this term has historically been included with these data
tables. The 2011 Annual Report will reflect this change.
