GS recorded water level below ground surface at STAB 60+00, 70+00, and 39+50. All three were excavated between 8 ft
and 10 ft deep through clayey overburden down to sandy/gravel stratum.
Ground water results as recorded from ground surface:
39+50: - 8 ft
60+00: - 7 ft
70+00: -9 ft
2. 1000-1700 hrs, GS observes QC check by Compass Environmental on fresh slurry mix. Viscosity was at 40 seconds.
Slurry hand added bentonite when jet mixer became clogged and slurry pond became dilute. Fresh slurry mix viscosity
dropped to 36 seconds and a weight of 67 pcf. PM backfill and excavation operations halted until trench and fresh slurry
viscosities were brought up. Weak slurry was flushed from the line and trench slurry was drained about 3 ft. to be filled by
stronger fresh slurry. GS did not attain a passing retest prior to leaving site at 1730 hrs. GS to test trench and fresh slurry
properties prior to excavation on 4/9/08.
3. Performed quality control testing on slurry and backfill. Observed backfill and excavation operations. Other tests
performed yielded results in general accordance with project specifications. Test results were reported to Al of Compass.
Prepared Daily Field Report and updated slurry wall data spreadsheet.
ATTACHMENTS: None
