Response to Preliminary County Comments Received on March 17, 2011
Adequacy Issue #8
The Reclamation Plan maps, Figures F-1 through F-5, utilize an air photo as the base layer,
overlain with topographic lines. Affected lands are illustrated as large colored polygons. Roads
are delineated with colored lines.
The air photos for Figures F-1, F-2, F-3 and F-5, have been digitally enlarged to a scale of 1 inch
= 50 feet. At this resolution the individual pixels of the image can be measured at 16 square feet
area. The pixels form a mosaic and confusing pattern, details of the original photos are no longer
evident. Please eliminate the air photos as base layers for Figures F-1 through F-5. Alternately,
if the Applicant desires to utilize air photos for detailed maps, please utilize lower altitude photos
of recent dates, which do not require significant enlargement.
Response #8
Adequacy Issue #8 has been addressed in the enclosed submitted maps. Wildcat Mining
Corporation has removed the aerial photo from the base maps and has replaced the
reclamation maps with recently surveyed base maps to a scale that provides the
opportunity to clearly present post mine topography and the proposed reclamation plan.
Adequacy Issue #9
The contour lines on Figures F-1 through F-5 attempt to detail the pre-mining and reclamation
topography at five foot contour interval. The pre-mining contour lines appear to approximate the
native topography before mining commenced in this historic mining district. The contour lines
do not reflect the current topography of affected lands. The post-mining contour lines follow the
pre-mining contours with minor deviation. Therefore, the post-mining contour lines indicate that
affected lands will be backfilled and graded to approximate original contour, to the native
topography prior to commencement of historic mining. The reclamation maps indicate extensive
backfilling and grading of all affected lands, including the proposed drill pads and drill pad
access roads. The reclamation maps conflict with the text of the proposed reclamation plan.
Please ensure the maps support and clarify the text. Please revise the maps to reflect the current
and post-mining topography of affected lands.
Response #9
Adequacy Issue #9 has been addressed in the enclosed submitted post topographic
reclamation contour maps (Attachment Q. The aerial base map was created in 2009. The
level of detail performed was not at a contour interval to identify the subtle details related
to past mining activities. A site survey was completed in October 2010 at a scale of 1 inch
to 100 with a one foot contour interval (where feasible). New maps have been submitted to
address Adequacy Issue #9 thus providing the detail requested by DRMS.
Revised
4/14/2011
