• Section 780.21(b) Continued.
constructed, maintained and reclaimed in accordance with Section
816.43. Specific design criteria for temporary diversion structures
are presented in Exhibit 42, Drainage and Sediment Control Plan, and
are discussed in more detail under Sections 780.29 and 816.43.
Drainage control from such facilities as haul roads, parking lots,
tipple areas, buildings and other structures is an important factor
in minimizing contributions of sediment outside the permit area. All
such facilities have been designed and will be built or modified to
provide for proper handling of runoff. Drainage control for haul
roads includes installation of drainage ditches, maintenance of 4Yo
crown, avoidance of steep grades where possible, proper sizing and
placement of culverts, and placement of riprap and other energy
dissipators where necessary. These control measures are discussed in
Section 780.37. Frequent maintenance will also be conducted to
insure the integrity of runoff control measures. Class I Roads will
be surfaced with durable material. Like haul roads, all access
roads, parking lots, and other structures will have proper drainage
control. The locations of all such facilities are shown on Map 1,
Kerr Mine Area Mine Plan, Map 16a, Kerr Mine Area Surface Mater
Hydrology, and Map 17a, Kerr Tipple Area Hydrology. The relationship
of these facilities to watersheds and other drainage patterns can be
determined from Map 16a, Kerr Mine Area Surface Water Hydrology and ~
Map 17a, Kerr Tipple Area Hydrology. These maps show locations of
diversion ditches, road ditches and culverts. As part of the
maintenance program, all existing and proposed roads and other
facilities will be graded frequently and will have associated
culverts, drains, and ditches periodically cleaned. A detailed
discussion and presentation of design criteria, including drainage
and sediment control, for all roads, other transportation and support
facilities is set forth in Section 816.150-816.181.
780-96 aaR
Revised - January, 1991
