2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING ACTIVITIES -
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLANS.
• (8) Non-coal wastes are disposed of in the Delta County Sanitary Landfill
located approximately 12.5 miles southwest of the East Mine. Oil and
grease refuse axe deposited in a 6,000 gallon tank. When this tank is
full, a recycling company pumps the tank and takes the oil and grease
for reuse.
Coal processing waste was placed in the designated waste disposal
area. See 2.05.3 (b) and the Waste Disposal Appendix in Volume 6A.
Waste rock from the east mine crushing and screening facility was
placed in a temporary storage area on the crushing and screening level
during the interim period between generation and final placement (Map
No. 8-1). The volume of interim storage material is limited to a
maximum of 2000 cubic yards.
Grease and oil which is trapped in the retention basins of two grease
and oil traps constructed within the drainages of the East Mine are
pumped periodically by a local septic pumping company and the contents
disposed at the local landfill. Sediment from this system is disposed
in the East Mine's waste disposal area.
Grease and oil at the West Mine were controlled using retention
basins. Appropriate facilities were constructed to control oil and
grease storage.
Policies were developed and implemented to ensure that the operation
and maintenance of the fuel bay facilities at the East and West Mine
sites is conducted in a manner which minimizes potential adverse
• environmental impacts. All personnel utilizing these facilities are
trained in accordance with the policy as to the proper procedures and
maintenance standards required at these facilities. The policy is: 1)
require physical attendance during all product transfer operations; 2)
establish cleanliness standards for the concrete pads; 3) require
adequate cleanup of drips or spills; 4) establish maintenance
reporting requirements for fueling facilities and equipment 5) require
monitoring and timely maintenance of sumps and drip containers; and 6)
establish storage areas and require storage of petroleum products in
designated areas at each facility.
(a) See the Waste Disposal Appendix in Volume 6A.
(i) Each General Plan shall:
(A) See 2.05.2(9)(a)(i)(A) and the Waste Disposal
Appendix in Volume 6A.
(B) See Maps 6A-lA through H and 6A-2A through G.
(C) See the Waste Disposal Appendix in Volume 6A.
(D) Not Applicable.
(E) See the Waste Disposal Appendix in Volume 6A.
(ii) Design Plans
(A) Each detailed design plan for a structure will be
prepared by or under the direction of and certified
by a qualified registered professional engineer.
Permit Renewal - 36 - 01/03
R/V-Oy (4/904)
/~l2-; a ~
