This pit is located in the WYY of the SE% of
Section 31, Township 3 North, Range 67 West and is a part of the Van Ohlen Project
(DRMS M1989-128). The compacted clay liner test commenced August 2, 2010 and
concluded on October 31, 2010. A site inspection was performed by our office on October
26, 2010 to review site conditions and the leak test plan.
Your report dated December 16, 2010 provides the liner summary and 90-day leak test
result. The test data provided indicates that the pit has been lined to the design
standard referenced in the August 1999 State Engineer Guidelines for Lining Criteria-for
Gravel Pits (1999 SEO Guidelines). Meeting the design standard requires that all water
inflows and outflows for the liner perimeter enclosed area must be accounted for on
a monthly basis.
With this liner approval, Van Ohlen Gravel Pit may be used to store water in accordance
with the 1999 SEO Guidelines. Prior to ANY use of this site, the owner or operator will
need to coordinate with Shera Sumerford, District 5 Water Commissioner, to review
operations and accounting.
Please contact me at the number below if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jonathan M.
