Amendment Application 2011 Exhibit Page 10
Amendment Application Exhibit Page 10
EXHIBIT E/1 - RECLAMATION PLAN
GENERAL CONCEPT:
The original concept has not changed significantly: it is to be reclaimed as a water
resource surrounded by improved irrigated pastureland: This amendment addresses
only changes to the original plan.
(1) The number of ponds is increased from three to five, by dividing one pond into
two parts and adding a pond in the South Field.
(2) Sizes of several ponds have changed.
(3) The percentage of total water surface increases slightly.
(4) An island and other features are added to provide more visual variety.
(5) The pre-existing irrigation return-flows ditch south of the major area of the
original permit boundary is incorporated into the water system.
(6) The sequence of reclamation will change to match the new post-reclamation and
the changes in mining sequence.
(7) One portion of the original permit area now has all permanent (post-reclamation)
improvements made and is no longer necessary to be in the permit area.
Maps F-3 and F-4 replace Maps F-1 and F-2. Although the cross-section (Drawing E-1)
is still accurate, an additional cross-section for the new portion of the site is shown for
clarity.
STOCKPILE PROTECTION:
Despite efforts to establish good long-term growth of grass on the western slope of the
west berms, terrain and climate have prevented significant success, but weeds and the
slope and soil conditions have prevented any significant wind and water erosion.
Portions of this berm (and the entire south berm) will be used to shape and reclaim
parts of the ponds and their shorelines earlier than originally planned, which will offset
this problem.
As previously stated, portions of stockpiles may be left as permanent berms as part of
the landscaping for future post-reclamation use.
CONTOURS AFTER RECLAMATION
The general concept of contours after reclamation is unchanged. Final contours as
shown in Map F-4 are changed only to reflect the changes in pond shapes and sizes,
and the addition of the South Field and its planned pond.
CONFORMANCE WITH LAND USE PLANNING
We believe that the proposed post-mining use continues to conform to present and
planned land use for the area; both in the Dolores River Valley and the county.
Table E-1 is replaced by Table E-2: Summary of reclamation areas for complete
project.
Stone Sand & Gravel, LLC 15 MAR 2011
Application for Amendment to Permit M-2001-001: Line Camp Pit SSG-LCP-D1-001
