Amendment Application 2011 Exhibit Page 9
Amendment Application Exhibit Page 9
current pond, to provide for emergency floodwater flow. This stockpile stores soil,
subsoil, and backfill material (excavated material other than sand and gravel).
Approximately 580 feet of the south stockpile/berm will be used in 2011 to backfill and
create the final shoreline of the current pond, to open the first strip of the South Field to
be mined. Soil from under the berm will be used for that purpose or to extend the west
berm/stockpile (along the highway) to the south. Soil stripped from the rest of the
South Field will be used to construct extensions of the east and west berms. The
existing gap on the east will remain.
Because of the relocated south berm (the new south shore of the current pond) and the
wooded area to the south of the new permit boundary blocks views and shelters
operations, a berm of stockpiled materials (soil and backfill) will probably not be
constructed at the south end of the new permit area, although a small one may be
constructed. If one is, at least one gap will be included in it, near the southeast corner.
Otherwise, refer to stockpile information in the original Exhibit D.
SURFACE WATER MANAGEMENT:
There is no change to surface water management as included in the original Exhibit D.
This exhibit and other exhibits and drawings continue to serve as the storm water
management plan for the site, with the sole discharge outfall being the controlled outfall
at the extreme south point of the permit area, into the Dolores River.
ASSUMPTIONS USED IN MINING PLAN:
No changes from original Exhibit D.
MINING OF SOUTH FIELD (NEWLY-PERMITTED AREA):
riUUic v-L+ JVULii VClu
and maintain
cut for safety.
SHA - Safety
?1Ae
?/ Berm 3' high
Use materlal
from berm
to backfill
shore of pond
Ground Level
To access the South Field past the current pond, a bench will be cut in the south
portion of the west stockpile/berm, as shown in the figure above. Pit run material will be
used to surface this road, and reclaimed once mining of the South Field is done.
Mining will be done in six annual strips 75 feet wide and approximately 540 feet long,
moving south from the south shore of the current pond. This will be excavated as a
single cut, to the sandstone bedrock, creating a new pond.
Stone Sand & Gravel, LLC 15 MAR 2011
Application for Amendment to Permit M-2001-001: Line Camp Pit SSG-LCP-D1-001
